COMMENTS FROM GRAA'S PRESIDENT, DR. PIEPER: Even though it did not get publicized, in April we did have a good scientific colloquium type talk by Dr. Ed Wollack of the Intrared Astrophysics Branch of the Center's Laboratory for Astronomy and Solar Physics. Ed has been at Goddard since l998 working on the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy (WMAP), the successor to the COBE project that many of us worked on. WMAP was launched in June 200l and its results have been spectacular. It was a highly informative and enjoyable presentation with outstanding visuals.
Next month's speaker is a GSFC retiree, Bill Davenport. Bill has written a mystery novel, "Dragons Die at Dawn" which was published as a print-on-demand (POD) book in December, 2000. Bill will talk about his experience with POD publishing.
Following last month's election of the GRAA Board, officers for the next two years have been selected as follows: President, George Pieper; Vice President, Ron Browning; Treasurer. Bob Wigand; Board Members: Dick Baker, Charlie Boyle, Barbara Hamilton and Bob Morrissey.

ROAD CLEANUP: Hugh O'Donnell, Ewald Schmidt, Ron Browning, Kathy Jarva, Marty Eiband, Bill Shields and Bob Wigand picked up thirteen bags of trash near Goddard's Gate l3, which later, for security reasons, was used as the entry gate for GRAA's luncheon meeting. Another cleanup will be held after the May meeting.

BOURDEAU, BOB & LUCY of Fulton, MD - "Many thanks for the monthly newsletter- Bob had a triple bypass in Feb. 02. Following that in April he contacted Guillian Barre Syndrom (GPS) - GPS is a rare viral disease of the nervous system. It is described in Joseph Heller's book. It took Bob l year and is 99% to full recovery. He put away the cane after using a wheelchair and walker. Physical Rehab helped a lot and with Lucy's loving care and many visits to the nursing home and care at home, he is especially grateful. Sends best wishes and Happy Spring to all. BRADFORD, JIM LOUIS of Williamsport, MD - died April l7, 2003 at the age of 84. He retired from GSFC after 28 years of service. He was formerly employed by NRL and NOL.
WOLDORF, LEON of Baltimore, MD died in February, 2003. He was a 20-year GSFC employee (l960-l980) - later a contractor. Served as a Section Head, Assistant Branch Head and Office Chief in the Operations Support Computing Division and Manned Flight Support Branch (Codes 500 & 800)
FOLEA, RICHARD of Lusby, MD - died in March 2003.
BAUERNSCHUB, JOHN of Silver Spring, MD - died 0n November 27, 2002. He retired in Jan of 1996 from Code 421.
