LUNCHEON MEETING: Based on discussions about our Monthly
Meeting sites, it was agreed to return to the RecCenter for our February
10th, 1998. It has not been determined whether or not it will be open to
Center personnel on this day. Please call in advance so that you may be
assured of seating. Perhaps by March we can resume having a featured speaker
for these meetings. In the
meantime, come & rub elbows & socialize as usual.

CLINT CARLE: Turned 70 in April '97 still skis. Has three big trips
planned -- lucky to be able to still ski -- stiff ski boots make it possible
-- old codgers that keep active are still the ones that are enjoying life.

Thanks to all who have made GRAA publications possible. Enjoys reading
them & keeping up w/outstanding aerospace accomplishments of Goddard.

while these folks were not Civil Servants we worked together for
may years & their dedication/loyalty was a joy to many of us. Both

JIM ARCHBOLD: Was the Ground Comm. Coordinator (GCC) at
the old Minitrack Station at Johannesburg, South Africa (JOBURG) - Retired
& would like to hear
from some of his old cohorts -- Presently living in Edgemead, about
10 miles SSW of Cape Town.
KEVYN
WESTBROOK: Kevyn was the mainstay at all of our NASCOM facilities in
Australia for many years. His duress & unflappable coolness under fire
is well remembered. Would also like to hear from some of his co-workers.
JOE
DUNST: Even tho retired, is still actively involved w/NASA Credit Union,
sends verbal greetings to his Goddard friends -- hopes to attend one our
gatherings in the near future.
GEWA--NEW YORK TRIP, April 25-26, 1998 Trip includes R/T bus transportation and hotel accommodations at the Sheraton Towers in New York. on Sunday a guided tour of Lower East Manhattan and dinner. The trip cost per person is $259 single, $199 double, $169 triple, $159 quad. The bus will depart Bldg.8 at 7:00 a.m. and return at approx. 10 p.m. on April 26.
OBITS:
FRIEDRICK O. VON BUN: Formerly
Director of Office of Applications, died 12/26/97. Family suggests expressions
of sympathy be made to the American Heart Assn. , 839 E. Quince Orchard
Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD, 20878.
JOHN L. TARPLEY: NASA Engineer for 25 years before retiring in 1984, died of cancer September 11, 1987 at his home in Rockville.
HUGH FLETCHER: Died of a heart attack near Ins home in Spain January 6,1998. Worked at Goddard as resident engineer for construction of tracking stations in Spain & Australia. He also worked at Goddard in environmental & energy conservation.
