LUNCHEON MEETING: TUESDAY July 14,1998,11:30 AM - RecCenter -- PLS make reservations by calling Alberta, 301-937-6104 or leave a message at 301-937-7762. The guest speaker will explain the operation of an organization called "Gifts in Kind, International". This organization coordinates distribution of manufactured items overseas from computers to cosmetics. If interested, you may also wish to join other volunteers in their Alexandria, VA Office.

SUGGESTION FOR GRAA OFFICERS TO CONSIDER: (Received recently from Frank Carr, a former GSFC Project Mgr) "Designate a future luncheon to focus on a specific past, Goddard project, thus attempting to have a 'reunion'of those people. Consider for the first candidates, the large in house projects that would hopefully attract the most retirees. Set up a schedule sufficiently in advance to permit out of towners to attend. Rotate the schedule so that, perhaps, a project would reoccur on the luncheon docket maybe every 3-5 years. Rationale: GSFC has traditionally been a 'Flight Project Center' and many of its folk relate to those people that they worked with on those projects. By designating a portion of the monthly luncheons to a rotating schedule of past projects, GRAA could continue to foster the regathering of those that made GSFC great. Examples of Projects to consider: Energetic Particles Explorers, IMP, IMP D/E, SSS, IUE, COBE, ISEE, etc., - among the in house group; also consider OGO, OSO, OAO, ATS, TIROS, etc. As a Corollary to the above, GRAA could consider focusing a luncheon on an 'Old Directorate', e.g., T&E, Code 200, Engineering, etc."
(COMMENTS/FEEDBACK/SUGGESTIONS concerning above suggestions would be greatly appreciated - Bring them with you to the next Luncheon or send them by mail.)

no traffic jams on the beltway, but on the minus side, misses the monthly
